First Step in preparation to of your Electrode Array. 1. Remove the tension bands.
By grasping the brass hook on the left, while holding the array on the right hand side securely you pull the bands to expand over the stainless pin that holds the tension, then gently release the tension once you have cleared the pin. 2. Flip the Electrode Array upside down.
You can see how placement of the clamps (green) can help you keep your Electrode Array stable during the following procedure. 3. The electrodes come already setup in your Electrode Array however you may want to straighten your gold wires and do this setup aspect yourself before your first run. Likely during shipping the wires have come unbound so now is a good time to learn how this system is prepared.
You may slide your 22gage gold wires in from the top, or from the bottom of each electrode holder. What you need to do next is pull out 2.1 cm (21mm) extending out of the bottom of each holder. 4. Fold each wire up and over the electrode holders while making sure that they conform to the curvature on the bottom of each holder. (make sure you have the glass lock tubes in place as shown before you bend the wires)
This is what you should end up with. 5. Lock the wires. Make sure that the flat sides of the retainer tubes are facing the inside, towards each other.
You may have to depress the gold wire end into the notch on the inside of the electrode holders.
The trick is to fit the gold wire end into the gap without application of too much pressure between the wire and the glass lock tube. You don't want to crack the lock tube however you want a secure fit that will not vibrate during the initial startup of the plasma system. 6. You want to align the bottom ends of the gold wires to ensure that the two wires are straight.
7. Replace the compression bands on the topside of the electrode array but first close the sliding gap and adjust the distance with the screw adjustment to make sure there is enough clearance set between the two electrode holders so that you have a small gap. 8. It looks easy, but it is difficult until you get a feel for this setup. If you mess up, remove the wires and find a hard surface to roll the gold wire flat again using another hard object that is also flat. If you have problems or need further assistance contact me: |
